What is on our minds at the moment:

German Supply Chain Due Diligence Law

In addition to many other topics, such as CO2 pricing or the Science Based Target Initiative on Net-Zero Standards, we are currently concerned with the Supply Chain Act.

The Federal Government's Supply Chain Due Diligence Act is intended to oblige companies to ensure that human rights and environmental standards are respected along the (global) supply chains. The supply chain law was finally passed by the Bundestag in mid-June 2021 and it is now clear to everyone: companies cannot ignore responsibility for their supply chains any longer. There are severe penalties in the rough for breaches of the duty of care (up to 2% of sales).

Apart from that: The awareness of society and customers is growing. Purchasing decisions are made in favor of ethically flawless products. This means that, even without the direct obligation under the Supply Chain Act (from 2023 with> 3000 employees / 2024 with> 1000 employees), there will be no way around assuming global responsibility for the protection of human rights and compliance with environmental standards in the long term.

It is better to take responsibility and lead change than just to pursue it. Because this is the only way to achieve competitive advantages.
